General information

What is the date and location of the conference?

The conference will take place from 3 - 6 December 2024 at Millennium Point, Birmingham. Find out more about our conference venue.  The conference dinner and IET Excellence and Innovation Awards are being held at the nearby Library of Birmingham.

How can I register for the conference?

What is the cost of attending the conference?

Are there any discounts available for early registration or group bookings?

Yes, there is an early bird rate up until 18 October 2024, and there are group discounts for bookings of two or more delegates. See more details on our registration page.

What is the conference schedule?

Who are the keynote speakers?

You can find details of all our industry speakers listed under each conference track on the website. The conference will also feature academic authors specially selected to present their papers.

Are there any workshops or special sessions?

Yes, during the Powering Net Zero Week, you can join us on a technical visit to explore the Tyseley Energy Park (TEP). TEP is an energy, waste and transport hub based in Birmingham, showcasing novel energy technologies as part of an innovative industrial ecology. It works to support low-carbon technologies and develop the business models and infrastructure needed to support new approaches to clean energy.

There is also a full day packed with tutorial sessions on Electric System operations, Modelling and techniques and Grid-forming plants.  Please click on the links for more details.

What are the recommended hotels near the conference venue?

We have negotiated some preferential rates for delegates.

Is there parking available at the venue?

There is a multi-storey car park owned and managed by Birmingham City Council situated adjacent to Millennium Point. View the car park information.

Are there any travel discounts available for attendees?

IET members can apply for a Travel Award to support their professional development. Our Travel Awards have enabled recipients to attend international conferences, collaborate with global experts, and advance their research. On-site information

Will meals be provided during the conference?

Yes, refreshments, lunch, and a drinks reception are included. Once you have registered as a delegate, we will invite you to inform us of any dietary requirements. There is also a conference dinner at an additional cost, which includes the IET Excellence and Innovation Awards, at the spectacular Library of Birmingham.

Is there Wi-Fi available at the venue?

Yes, this information will be available at the registration desk on arrival at the conference.

Networking and social events

Are there any networking events or social activities planned?

Yes, there is a drinks reception on Wednesday, then a conference dinner, which includes the IET Excellence and Innovation Awards, at the spectacular Library of Birmingham. There is also a morning walk on the last day of the conference.

Miscellaneous

Does attending the conference count towards CPD hours?

Yes, 16 CPD hours and Certificate of Attendance (+7 if attending tutorial).
